We’re Sam and Barnes, two vegan pals who met at work and began cooking together in Sam’s tiny Leith kitchen in 2019. We became obsessed with veganising familiar food, making mock meats, burgers, sauces, you name it.

We were so passionate about the food that we were certain we wanted to take it to market, so, with no background in catering and mid-pandemic, we bought a massive van!

While the van was being transformed, we started doing pop ups and getting the word out. The vast majority of our customers aren’t vegan or plant-based and they’re pleasantly surprised, the feedback has been amazing.

Our first year was mental, way beyond what we were expecting. Our third event on the van was as finalists in the Scottish Street Food Awards and 6 weeks in we were at TRNSMT. It was a massive learning curve but we loved it. Our food has come on so far since we started, we’ve really fine tuned existing recipes and hugely broadened our menu. No shade to anyone buying big brand, plant-based burgers from the wholesaler (we love that there’s so much choice for vegans now), but it’s just not what we do. Every single burger and gram of mock meats are handmade, by us. We’re buzzing to see what the next few years bring!
